Frequently Asked Questions

Please select from the categories below:

  • Why are my impressions distorted?
Impressions may have imperfections such as drags, bubbles or holes. Occasionally, slight distortions can occur, which might only be noticeable when compared to another impression. It's crucial that the impression captures all teeth and covers the entire palate. Please ensure impressions are thoroughly checked before leaving the practice. If unsure, consider taking an additional impression.
  • What is the turnaround time?
Essix Retainers: 3 days Bonded Retainers: 7 days Longterm Retainers: 3 days Clear Aligners: 14 days NiTi Spring Aligner: 7 days Orthodontic Removable Appliance: 10 days For 3-day or 24-hour express services, please contact us for more details.
  • What do I need to provide NimroDENTAL for implant drilling guides?
To create your drill guide, we need the following: A CT scan. Study models or an intraoral surface scan. The implant system brand you plan to use. Drill sizes and sleeve (if applicable).
  • What impression material should I use?
It is essential to provide both upper and lower silicone impressions, along with a wax bite. Sending both arches is crucial to ensure there is sufficient space for movement and proper alignment.
  • How does NimroDENTAL ensure implant guides are accurate?
We combine your patient’s CT scan with the surface impression/scan. This allows us to plan implant placement based on bone density. We then print a highly accurate drill guide, using bone level or teeth as reference points.
  • How should I send my impression to you?
We recommend using Special Delivery or a recorded post/courier service to ensure the parcel is traceable. For parcels sent from outside the UK, please use recorded post for reliable tracking.
  • What software is used to design the drilling guide and implant placement?
We use SMOP CoDiagnostix software, compatible with various implant brands, to design the drilling guide and plan implant placement.
  • Where can I print postage labels?
Due to the loss of many packages sent using FreePost, we have implemented a new system. To obtain your postage label, please visit: Royal Mail Postage Label on our website. This new method allows both you and us to track the package, ensuring that it arrives safely and that we can provide the best service possible.
  • I would like to align my patient’s teeth, but I am not sure how or what appliance to use?
Please email us photos from multiple angles (front, occlusal, 'chin-up' and profile) or send impressions, indicating the specific concerns of the patient. We will review the information and provide you with various treatment options.
  • What is a composite attachment/anchor?
A composite attachment, or anchor is a piece of composite material bonded to the tooth. It serves as a grip or anchor for the appliance, providing stability during treatment.
  • How do I open the bite?
To open the bite, apply composite to the 6’s or 7’s of the opposing arch. This process typically takes 2 to 6 months for the teeth to over-erupt, following the Dahl principle, resulting in an opening of approximately 3mm at the front. After this period, the composite can be removed.
  • My patient has a nickel allergy; can they wear your appliances?
Our NiTi Springs Aligners and Bonded Retainers contain nickel. However, we can create a Bonded Retainer using nickel-free wire or recommend an alternative appliance for teeth alignment with nickel-free wire. Please ensure to clearly note on the lab sheet if your patient has a nickel allergy.
  • What services does your 3D department provide?
Our 3D department offers digital scanning, 3D printing and treatment planning services. If you have an intraoral scanner, you can send digital impressions. Which helps save both time and money.
  • Can you make a retainer at the same time as an NitTi Springs or Clear Aligner?
We can only make a retainer if it is for a different arch, as both appliances cannot be produced from the same impression. We will first create the Aligner to achieve alignment. Afterwards, a new impression and lab sheet will be required to fabricate the retainer.
  • Do you have a Clear Aligner course?
Yes, NimroDENTAL offers an online Clear Aligner course, available for purchase through our Disposables page on our website. While completing the course is not mandatory to treat patients with NimroDENTAL Clear Aligners, we highly recommend it. The course is accredited for the equivalent of 3 CPDs, and upon successfully answering the questions, NimroDENTAL will issue a certificate.
  • How long does the patient wear each Clear Aligner for?
Each Clear Aligner should be worn for two weeks.
  • The Clear Aligner doesn’t fit, what do I do?
If the Clear Aligner does not fit, please take a new impression and return it to us along with a lab sheet detailing the issue.
  • What is the thickness of the Clear Aligner?
The Clear Aligners are 0.8mm to 1mm thick.
  • What is a stent?
A stent is a guide used to assist in placing a composite anchors on the teeth. To bond the composite, follow these steps: Etch and seal the tooth surface. Fill the pocket of the stent with composite. Fit the stent over the teeth. Light cure the composite to the tooth. Remove the stent and polish any excess.
  • I have purchased a package and finished the first set of Clear Aligners. Do I have to send a new impression for the remaining aligners?
You only need to ensure that the final aligner of the first set fits properly and that the teeth are in the desired position. If the treatment is progressing as expected, you do not need to take a new impression. Please send written confirmation to the lab indicating that you would like to proceed with the next set of Clear Aligners.
  • Can the patient wear the last Clear Aligner as a retainer?
We do not recommend using a Clear Aligner as a substitute for a retainer, as the material is stretched and worn down.
  • Are Invisible Aligners the same as Clear Aligners?
Yes, Clear Aligners are also referred to as Invisible Aligners, Clear Braces and Invisible Braces. They are all the same type of appliance designed for teeth alignment.
  • When should I do IPR?
IPR should be done during the first appointment and then at each subsequent stage as needed. In order to create space between the teeth to allow movement and alignment.
  • How does the IPR guide work?
The IPR guide provides the following information: It illustrates the total amount of IPR required per contact for each stage. The guide is divided into stages based on the number of Clear Aligners needed. Each stage includes a specified number of Clear Aligners, clearly indicated. The lines on the diagram correspond to the size of the IPR strip or disc. A colour key is provided for easy reference.
  • How long does the patient need to wear it?
The duration varies by case, but on average, it is 8-12 weeks.
  • How often and how much does the patient need to turn the screw?
The patient should turn the Expander approximately twice a week (every 3-6 days) using the supplied key.
  • Why can’t you predict how many Clear Aligners my patient will need before expansion?
Expansion is needed first because we cannot predict the patient's compliance or the exact position of their teeth post-expansion. Once expansion is complete, a new impression will be required to assess the number of Clear Aligners needed for further alignment.
  • How often do I need to see the patient?
Although the patient turns the screw themselves, we recommend scheduling regular check-ups to monitor their progress. Check that the patient is wearing the expander full time to ensure the treatment is on track.
  • Can I order brackets from NimroDENTAL?
Yes, we offer a wide range of labial and lingual brackets, arch wires and other accessories.
  • What is the procedure for digital bracket indirect bonding?
The process involves: Scanning the models. Aligning the teeth digitally. Placing brackets on the model according to instructions or standard values. Sending the setup to the Dentist for approval. Creating transfer trays with brackets inserted into them.
